Morning all A cheeky question I guess as not posted in a while having the pigs done shortly and would like to send a pork box to my sister have polystyrene boxes but wonder if anyone can help me with the means of transport ie who offers this kind of service Thnaks in Advance

I use APC overnight. £10 for up to 10 kilos and 50p per kilo after that.

HappyHippy, is that charge because it's not going far? My cheapest quote to send from Wiltshire to London is about £30-40 for 15kg.

We've sent from Glasgow to rural Inverness-shire and also Buckinghamshire - so don't think it's the distance

Yes I will have to phone them. I thought I'd emailed for one from them but it was about £50! My friend was prepared to pay it but almost as much as the meat.

My pigs went today, I pick meat up Friday. Question is will it be ok to keep some in fridge and post to a friend on Monday? The difference in overnight postage is £17 for weekdays and £54 for a Saturday!

Hi ScotsGirl,

Yes it will be fine; personally I'd keep it in the fridge over the weekend but put it in the freezer for 30 mins before finally packing it and if possible add a couple of ice packs too. If their is much space remaining add some loose packing material, reducing large air gaps adds to the insulation. (I'm assuming the meat will be vacuum packed or at least sealed in bags)

Wish I had looked at this before posting. I think Royal Mail scales are out as went over weight so cost £47 to post! Still haven't had confirmation from recipient that it arrived which is worrying. Just hope he is busy. Good idea to stick in freezer for a bit, wish I'd thought of that. Thanks all. Will remember for next time.
