I found a damson tree
« on: September 06, 2014, 01:12:50 pm »
I was using he ride-on and ran it into a part I tend to avoid..thick with dogwood , nettles etc, very shaded and th grass ony grows slowly - so I only mow there 3-4 times a year. Theres a damson with a decent crop of ripe fruit well spread out on the tree because of the shade.. and the wasps haven't found it..

..just grabbing a bag...

That's a good find. We don't seem to have had so many wasps this year. I lost more plums to snails than wasps.

Haven't seen more than 10 wasps all year.  Excellent crop of damsons and think I may have found a bullace among the hedge trees - halfway between plum and damson in both size and taste.

I found, a long time ago, that one of my fields was hedged with damson trees. Now every year we have a ton of damson jelly piling up, annoying if you can't eat it all. ::)
