penis or worms!?
« on: August 28, 2014, 07:12:19 pm »
I have three 4 month old cayuga ducks, one duck and two drakes which I hatched myself. I noticed yesterday that one of the drakes had what looked like an earthworm come out of its vent when it did a poo. I have instantly assumed they had worms and started them on a course of flubenvet. I have seen it happen more times since then and after having done a bit more research online I have discovered it might actually be the drakes penis!

I don't know how to know for sure? They were wormed about 6 weeks ago but we have a lot of wild birds here which they come into contact with. So far I have not seen this worm thing coming out of the duck but on the other hand would a drakes penis come out of the vent while it poops? It's happening very frequently. But I would expect parasitic worms to be much thinner, this was definitely thick like an earthworm with a little funny flatter bit on the end, it is not corkscrewy. Sorry I can't upload a photo
