Just Bought Our First Ram
« on: July 27, 2014, 07:04:10 pm »
 :excited:

Just viewed some lovely Rams and we have chosen our new boy! Pictures do him no justice, He has massive presence!

Not too bad EBV's too (in the top 25%)  and he'll correct our ewes weakness's.

Please no nasty comments  :innocent:

Don't listen to the money men - they know the price of everything and the value of nothing

Live in a cohousing community with small farm for our own use.  Dairy cows (rearing their own calves for beef), pigs, sheep for meat and fleece, ducks and hens for eggs, veg and fruit growing

Thanks everyone! Will find his basco page Tim and post when I get a minute. Just been king at my ewes ebv's and I have one who is 1 point from being in the top 1%!

I will get some better pictures when we get him as these are rubbish and do not show him off!

I like him as he has plenty of heart room yet no broad shoulders and only slightly wider hips and a nice head so these lambs should slide out!

He looks lovely!

Can I ask though, what do you mean by "heart room", and why is that important?

Thank you veryone and I will get you some pictures when we get him home!

Heart room is the space between the front legs of the chest. I was told that an animal that was too narrow had the organs to packed in and confined. I suppose this could cause issues in later life and with the working life of a ram abd all the excientment, a good ticker is very important!
