Greetings from N.Ireland
« on: July 23, 2014, 05:13:38 pm »
Good evening folks, this is my first post and really just wanted to say hello and ask a bit of advice. I run a small herd of Dexter cattle and I am approaching the time to start finishing a couple of them. I am looking for a small independent abattoir in N.Ireland that also butchers the animals as I intend to sell the meat through a box scheme. Has anyone ever used or know of a place that might be suitable? Thanks for any help you can provide.

 Don't know how you got on with your search but there is a small abattoir in Annesborough, in Lurgan; it is situated in the back of an industrial estate, very close to but not to be confused with a commercial one - Anglo Irish Beef. Oakdale Meats operate another small abbatoir in Dungannon or used to. I once took cattle up there for a local butcher.

I am about to buy a couple of small Shetlands for our own use here. Was nearly going for Dexters but thought the temperament of the Shetland might suit me better?
