We had our alpacas shorn about three weeks ago, discovered one of our female alpacas was expecting ... So we have been checking on her at least four times a day and this evening, there we are. One little cria. Have checked him, no bleeding from cord, seems to be healthy. Put him in a coat for warmth. Mum seems okay, nothing visibly wrong. Not sure what happened to the placenta though ...
They are together, can see the other alpacas but they are in their own area so they get a chance to bond. Cria seems to be feeding okay, and we plan to get up at first light to check.
Anyway, is there anything that you think we have missed? We haven't weighed him as we aren't experts, will get the vet out early next week to check them both but any advice gratefully received.
