Ideas please based on a diamond/silver theme
« on: June 18, 2014, 05:19:01 pm »
The woman who started our spinning, weaving and dyeing group stepped down from any organisation of the club recently due to her age and ill health.
As a group we want to give her something as a thankyou and as it more or less coincides with her diamond wedding anniversary we have decided to give a silver basket with things we have made in it on a diamond/silver theme.
Ideas gratefully received as I haven't got a clue what to make.

Anything Entrelac?

Or Argyle patterned?

Otherwise, my usual start point

Does she have a little dog?  There's a nice dog coat.

What about the lacy diamond-patterned bookmark?

Nice little clutch bag

Cute little soap bag

If she will be playing golf now that she's retiring she might like this  :roflanim:

And, because you knew I'd find one, how about this? ;)  :o :roflanim:

Now that is something you really would need to knit with the very softest wool, or you'd be sawn in half  :o  Definitely not for Herdwick yarn  :roflanim:

She isn't a golfer and as she is in her 80's I think she is past the thong stage. I do like the diamond book mark though.
I am going to download it later and see how difficult it is.

Thanks Sally

Somehow the thought of wearing a knitted thong doesn't appeal to me. Actually, the thought of wearing any sort of thong doesn't appeal to me. I might never find it again under my big tummy.  :roflanim:

I have made the lace diamond bookmark which was one of the suggestions from SITN.
The thread I used is a silver grey colour with a silver lurex thread running through it. It is a bit thicker than I would have liked but cjoice was limited. Having said that I think it looks nicer than any of those in the pictures, even though I do say it myself.
I should have let you be the judges but I forgot to take a picture and now it is all wrapped up.
Anyway, thankyou for your suggestions and especially Sally.

Well done. I'm sure she'll be delighted.

A diamond silver sort of patchwork quilt? - just a knee warmer thing?
