nettles?
« on: April 17, 2014, 11:24:38 am »
I noticed this morning that two of my week old kids had tiny little blistery white spots under their tail and one in particular had a very swollen wide base of the tail with the little spots.  Could this be nettles or something they have sat on?  I have sprayed it.

It looks like Staph aureus infection, quite common on the damper areas of the goat - udder, teats and groin.

You will need antibiotic, plus I used a steroid cream (on vet prescription) when one of my goatlings was affected badly. It does go, but may come back....
As they are so young I would load them in the car/dog crate and present to the vet. The steroid cream reduces the itching.

I can't believe I am sitting here, eating biscuits and peering at a picture of a goat's bum.  :roflanim: :roflanim:

It does look sore. Hope you get it sorted quickly.
