Commercial broiler (meat bird) chicks
« on: April 14, 2014, 04:32:11 pm »
I'm going to start rearing commercial broilers on a small scale, I'm looking at maybe 20 or so every month just for our own home use.

I don't want to be buying them in as chicks so my plan was to pick up a handful of broiler breeder parent stock from a flock which was being depleted and just breed and hatch my own.

Would anyone else be interested in a few parent stock?

They'll be over 60 weeks old and well past their best as far egg laying goes but the hens will still be laying 3-4 eggs a week for a few years yet and they will be big eggs which means big strong chicks.

We are in process of setting up pens etc just down the road from you and would certainly be interested in getting parent stock.
