I am going to give a few of those a go - I have some spare pallets.

i particularly like the one where you almost bury a pallet up to the top ( so there is soil in between each gap) - that would be perfect for onions - no more weeding in between the onions !

Folks, I'd be a little bit careful with the ideas that show the soil in contact with the pallet wood. Pallets are treated with all sorts of preservatives and insecticides, which could well leach into the soil. Just best to be aware, that's all.

Good point but doesnt that apply to the more 'heavy duty' pallets rather than the ones designed for single use?
Just been reading up on the ippc marking and the codes to look out.

its given me a great idea, need to speak to the builders yard, the crates natural stone is shipped in are hard wood and untreated, they would need a liner as the gaps are a bit wide but they'd make excellent instant raised beds...

I have a pallet recycling yard across the road from my site (South of Lanark) so can get pallets for nothing, Defo going to give some of these ideas a go as well as building a field shelter out of pallets !
