Muck and other agricultural waste- advice
« on: January 07, 2014, 01:18:16 pm »
Hello,
We are a small hill farm and We have 10 round bales of haylage which are old, mouldy and not fit for animal consumption. But we don't have space to fit it on muck heap. Does any one know of a farm or organisation which will take this type of material for composting/disposal?
Thanks
Becky

If you've an anaerobic digester in your area, they may be interested.
Don't listen to the money men - they know the price of everything and the value of nothing

Live in a cohousing community with small farm for our own use.  Dairy cows (rearing their own calves for beef), pigs, sheep for meat and fleece, ducks and hens for eggs, veg and fruit growing

Does your local authority collect material for composting? We've just moved from being the worst recycling authority in the country to the best. They now compost all food waste and will also collect garden waste. Not sure they'd collect bales but they'd be on the right scale to be able to cope with them if you could deliver.
