Hi all this is my first post and I'm in need of some help. We live in Farncombe, Surrey and have 2 saddlebacks due to go to slaughter in the next 3 weeks or so, but we can't find a trailer to take them. Does anyone know if there is anyone who could lend a trailer or hires them out. Please let me know.

I spent  full year borrowing my neighbours trailer and also seeking a second hand one before managing to get one through this forum.  Do none of your farming neighbours have one that you can borrow?  If no joy there try your local auction mart and do some networking.

There might be others too. Worth asking or, as there always seems to be smallholders in this situation just buy a good one and then, when not using it, rent it out ;D .

just a word of note .. with trailers, they like the tow vehicle and your boots go off and on farm therefore are carriers of infection  :unwell: I'm not suggesting you go to high health status where a farm trailer takes the pigs from the unit to the loading bay where they are cross loaded .. but if you are borrowing or lending a trailer buy the biggest bottle of disinfectant you can find and follow the defra guidelines.

Just a thought, we asked for a trailer on our local freecycle website and ended up with an offer of borrowing a trailer from someone less than a mile away. Might be worth a try?
Come find us on Facebook, Williams Poultry  :-)
