Help - weird comb
« on: August 07, 2012, 12:06:10 pm »
I have a silkie/araucana cross (well, I think that's what she is!)  Been with us since 2008.  She normally has a neat pea type comb but today I noticed an unusual protuberance on her comb.  I tried to take some photos - the grass comes up to the kitchen window so I tempted her with treats.  Can anyone suggest what has happened and should I take any action?
Thanks

Looks like a fleshy growth of some sort. How long did it take to grow?

Might be a bee or wasp sting Joy of chicks. Or perhaps damage fighting. I'd leave it but make sure it doesn't grow any more or it is infected inside.
