Hi Ya'll
« on: January 31, 2008, 04:59:02 pm »
We are a family of three living in southern Missouri's ozark hills.  We keep hogs and chickens and have a large and growing garden.  We are trying to produce more of our food for economic, health and more worldly concerns, besides we enjoy working our land.

Hi Woody

Welcome to the TAS forums, I only joined last week and have found it one of the nicest places to be. I have found the information others have given me very useful as well.

Hey Woody,

Welcome!

How many and what type of 'hogs' do you have?

Tell us a little about Missouri - it has always been one of those names that sets off my imagination. It just sounds like a nice place to be.

Your hogs sound intreging so please tell more.

Welcome

Thanks for the warm welcome.

We are small time with the hogs.  Raise three or four at a time, mainly for our own freezer.  My daughter shows market hogs in 4H at our county fair.  Yorkshire/spot cross is what we have raised.

Missouri is a wonderful place to call home.  We are in the Meremec river valley with large areas of National forests around us.  Our part of the state is most productive in cattle and a great number of horse ranches.  We get invaded every summer by tourists that come to float (canoe) our rivers from nearby St. Louis.  If you like  fishing...this is heaven.

HM...not today,  we have about 6 inches of drifting snow on the ground and a -6C temp.  Not my favorite type weather.  My daughter however is very excited about getting outside to sled and make snow angels.

Fascinating to think of all us like minded people across the globe trying to achieve the same thing from different angles, and great that this website has been set up which allows us all to give help ,support to each other - and share a good laugh or to at the same time as well!! ;D- good luck with the snow, i'll swap you for some of my rain :D
relax and enjoy life - let others do the worrying
