Hi all just a couple of questions if you dont mind,will pigs get too fat if given 1 large root of fodder beet per day and 16% protein pig nuts soaked in milk.The pigs are saddleback and 5 1/2 months old roughly,thanks in advance.

I think it will depend on how much of the nuts soaked in milk you feed to them.

Thanks for your reply hopewell,roughly 20 litres of milk per 25lb of pig nuts per feed for 10 pigs.

What a waste of milk for pigs of that age. I wOuld put them on a grain diet,minus the milk and keep them lean. I you have milk give it to your suckling pigs.

saddelbacks are a fat pig if feed incorrectly at the age yours are they will layer the fat on with milk and nuts but maybe you want fat to make soap or for cooking it is the milk that does it

I'd cut the milk out altogether, especially if they are getting 2.5 lbs of nuts at each feed (assuming you feed twice daily ?)
The best way to tell if they are too fat is to have a feel of them. If you can't feel backbone or ribs then they're too fat
