already the trees are turning
« on: July 16, 2011, 11:30:37 am »
For me the weather has been going down hill for the last 4 years and the evidence is out side my door every day
and already the trees are turning in my area of england last year it started in August it mid july this year so for me the season are out by 6 to 8 week. So for me i would not be suprised to see real winter weather by November for parts of the uk .Temperatures here in Greater Manchester nestling 5'C below average this weekend, and as for BBC/Met office things don't look like improving at all as we go into the next week.its very early for the geese to be flying south its normally sept before they fly south if you ignore all the super computers and satistaics its certainly said to be a sign of a bad winter think kentweather could be right and we are in for an early winter same as last year.

on the plus - at least power bills will be lower  ::) or ours will be again, we went most of last winter without power. until we borrowed a diesel generator to power the kitchen and living room

I am sure you are correct about the trees, but the leaves changing colour can be caused by disease or bugs.

In this area the horse chestnuts have a bug a bit like Dutch elm disease where a bug eats the leaves causing them to change colour and - eventually - kill the tree.

Last Winter's cold weather should have knocked the bugs back and reduced the risk to the trees. So far, I haven't seen any trees changing colour here.

Me neither to busy singing

Bring me Sunshine, in your smile,
Bring me Laughter, all the while,
In this world where we live, there should be more happiness,
So much joy you can give, to each brand new bright tomorrow,

Make me happy, through the years,
Never bring me, any tears,
Let your arms be as warm as the sun from up above,
Bring me fun, bring me sunshine, bring me love.

Bring me Sunshine, in your eyes,
Bring me rainbows, from the skies,
Life's too short to be spent having anything but fun,
We can be so content, if we gather little sunbeams,

Be light-hearted, all day long,
Keep me singing, happy songs,
Let your arms be as warm as the sun from up above,
Bring me fun, bring me sunshine, bring me love.
How long did you say it would take me to dig this 5 acres with my spade?

The exceptionally dry Spring and early Summer has caused some plants to produce early fruit, we have ripe brambles, i.e. blackberries, ripe plums and very nearly ripe apples plus pears. This is early by at about four weeks, which makes me wonder what the bees will be foraging in late September / early October.

Up here in the far northwest of Scotland the trees (the few that we have) started turning weeks ago.
