Is she brimming?
« on: May 29, 2011, 11:49:56 am »
Hi. I thought my GOS sow was in pig but this morning she looks to have a clear mucusy discharge although she is not swollen. Does this mean she will soon be brimming again?

A clear mucus discharge is usually a fair indication that she is not in pig, but I've never fully relied on that as a preg tester is a fair more accurate option. How long inpig is she meant to be??? Just keep her close to a boar so she can be checked daily for a possible return to service.
Lets hope the sign are wrong.

Thanks for your reply. We bought her in pig but when she arrived she had quite a lot of stress and bullying from another of our sows so may be that she lost her babies then....cannot be sure. How soon after the show of mucus would she be brimming? Got a boar on site so can put her to him if needs be.
