Miniature pigs ..... again
« on: March 08, 2011, 08:27:12 am »
Trolling through web found a site here in France selling "miniature pigs".  They have a picture showing a large white?? with 250-500k  as the weight guide, what I think are small pot bellies at 50-100k and their own breed of miniature pigs 20-40k.

I havent weighed Hilary lately and she has been on a diet of sorts, even at her heaviest I dont think she topped 350 k.  Digby who is LB and taller than H is 220 k.  I wondered if anyone has ever seen a 500k pig?  Wondered what the normal weight for a large white would be, and how big could they grow?

Hubby worked with Large Whites in commercial piggeries years ago. He reckons the boars could easily have weighed 500K+ but they never weighed them - only the weaners for slaughter were weighed.
Here's a link to a piece on a 900Kg pig http://www.oddee.com/item_96634.aspx :o :o :o

We weighed Delia our big GOS at the local weighbridge and she weighed in at 320kg!
Fat girl, tried slimfast, weightwatchers, slimming world but she just keeps growing! ;D
