at what age are boars able to breed ?

Good question. I don't have lot of experience in this department but I think a lot depends on the breed, if he's been kept near gilts/sows and is already showing interest in mating, how big he is and his weight. I purchased my GOS boar Bob at 10 mths and he'd already served 2 gilts.

Boars of any breed can be capable of reproducing at 6 months or even earlier. However, while they are growing it is unwise to use them too early and 10-12 months old is usually considered the starting age.
