turning green to brown

Hi im about to inherit an acre of land in 2 halves the small bit used to have a house on it many moons ago, but the council say it has all been washed over and is now green and not for building. any ideas how to put a small home on it all be it log house or similar?

You can appeal and go higher than the council. I know in West Yorks where I come from that some huge houses were going up on green belt that were house sites many moons ago. Hang on to the land as green belt is always  changing anyway.
