Title: MONTHLEY UK Outlook for AUGUST
Post by: Victorian Farmer on July 29, 2012, 10:27:32 am
Tonight:Showers becoming confined to northern and western parts, particularly coastal areas, with drier, clearer conditions developing across the rest of the UK. Another cool night for most. Monday Showers developing once again, particularly across northern UK, with many southern areas staying fine and dry. However, cloud slowly increasing across southwestern England and Wales, with rain arriving towards evening.                                                                      Outlook for Tuesday to Thursday Generally unsettled with showers or longer spells of rain for most, accompanied by some strong winds, particularly southern and western parts. Temperatures largely near-normal by day, but feeling humid overnight. UK Outlook for Thursday 2 Aug 2012 to Saturday 11 Aug The unsettled spell of weather is expected to continue for much of the period. Through Thursday and Friday, showers are expected across many parts, possibly merging into persistent rain across the north and west. The best of any sunshine may be towards the south and east. It will be windy at times with temperatures close to or just below average, especially in any rain. The remainder of the period will see further sunshine and showers, again merging into longer spells of rain in places, particularly towards the north west. It will continue rather cool but temperatures may recover in any sunnier spells towards the south and east. By the end of the period, some longer spells of drier weather may develop across southern parts with temperatures recovering closer to average. UK Outlook for Sunday 12 Aug 2012 to Sunday 26 Aug 2012 It is most likely that the weather will remain changeable. The south and east is perhaps most likely to see the best of any dry, bright, and at times warm weather. Some rain is likely in places, which may be heavy at times. A lengthy spell of hot, sunny weather across the whole country currently looks unlikely. This outlook gives a broad description of the type of weather that is likely to affect the UK as a whole, including significant changes in the type of weather and an indication of how it may differ from what you may normally expect. so summer has gone for a nother yere

We need some dry days with wind to dry the grass and the ground.  Then 5 dry days of which at least the last is sunny to make some hay.

Why is it so much to ask????  Every year for the last 6...  my only consolation is the thought that weather is supposed to come in 7-year cycles... so roll on 2104...  ::)

1976 was the last really good year    hay silage and harvest was all done in glorious wall to wall sunshine farmers with 100 acres of grain could have done 1000 acres  now they have the 1000 acres and the bog tracks to go with it
the early sixty's was wet as well and can remember zetor making great play of it to promote there 4 wheel drive production tractors

that is what farming and smallholding is all about the unpredictability of weather and the stock :farmer:
