Title: Lamb with swollen bottom
Post by: ScotsGirl on July 18, 2012, 09:57:04 pm
I have a late lamb which started scouring approx 10 days ago.  I dagged all lambs last weekend, heptavac'd and wormed the late lamb but I noticed the skin all round her bum was really swollen.  No sign of redness, heat or breakdown in tissue so I am putting it down to irritation from the scour. Her poo seemed firmer today but I am concerned if it keeps swelling she won't be able to poo.

Has anyone come across this before and know what I should do? Only time I have seen similar is in ewes who have had assisted births.

No, I must phone vet on Monday and ask.  She seems perfectly happy and at least since I dagged her there is no poo sticking to her.  Unfortunately lush grass is making several of them a bit loose.

Will post vet's comments once I speak to them. Just praying no flystrike now the sun has come out.
