Title: Hello
Post by: woozle on June 25, 2012, 03:08:53 pm
Hi all

I'm a newbie from Aberdeenshire, I moved 2 1/2 years ago to an old crofthouse which has 2 acres around it.  I have 3 dogs at the moment but I've managed to convince my hubby to let me get some chickens and possibly rent a bit of land from the farmer so we can keep some more animals but I have to see how we do with the chickens first.

Anyway, I came across your site when I was researching chickens and it looks like a great place to get info on all manner of things so I've registered and in time I hope I can find lots of useful stuff and join in on some of the discussions.

Hi Woozle, I'm in Aberdeenshire too.  Nice to see the sun this morning isn't it.
We started out with three chickens and a couple of dogs and now have sheep, pigs and bees all on a couple of acres.  So good luck with your future plans.

Welcome from a dull and miserable old Powys member. You can do a lot on 2 acres of rough grazing, Chickens are Good but you get a lot of cold wet weather up there, so goats don't do too well in those conditions, native sheep are designed for the job, is the land good enough to grow stuff? Polytunnel ? etc. Good luck with whatever you plump for.
