Using horses to manage a woodland site

This day will show how horses can play an important role in the management of environmentally sensitive woodlands or sites where access is difficult, such as steep or wet woodlands. Horses can extract timber whilst minimising damage to the surrounding woodland, particularly useful in small spaces or when either rare plant or animal species or archaeological remains are present. See how to reduce the impact of forest working on existing crops, coppiced stools and areas of regeneration, and how horses can be effective through the full range of woodland operations from first thinnings through to the final crop. A demonstration of working with horses will include an opportunity to try it for yourself.
