Learn to use a scythe efficiently and safely to mow grass for hay and cut weeds, brambles, rushes or small scrub.

Mowing is gentle, non-impact exercise suitable for all ages and works in small spaces, around trees and on slopes. No more ear defenders, visor, strimmer fumes or noise; just the sound of the birds and the swish of your blade. The course is for beginners and equally suited to those looking to refresh their skills.

You will have plenty of time to learn the basics of using a scythe and to develop an ergonomic mowing technique as well as:

  • setting up the scythe to fit your body
  • sharpening in the field
  • peening the edge
  • care and maintenance of your scythe
