Ha, made you look:-)

Our two heifers are "on holiday" for the next few weeks at CorrieDhu's place, where they will be snuggled up to Collafirth Viking. Actually, I'm pretty sure Breeze is in calf, so she's only gone for the run out. Blizzard will be 21 days past her last AI on Saturday 17th, so if she's not held, hopefully Viking will do his stuff.

I was pretty uptight about loading them and then taking them to a new herd - would they travel OK, would they make friends, would they get bullied. They loaded fine; Breeze took one look at the bucket and trundled up the ramp. Blizzard was a bit more reluctant, but was easy to persuade after a couple of false starts.

Best laugh was when we were driving along the A92 through Dundee and one of them pee'd out of the ventilation gap in the trailer. A long, long stream of cow wee - hope there was no-one in a soft top going past.

CorrieDhu put KAMAR gel pads on the girls; if the bull serves them, the pad splits and the dye is released. Then out into the field. And guess what - they were fine. A wee bit of pushing and shoving, then off they went. Viking completely ignored Breeze but was very interested in Blizzard - we'll soon know if that's coincidence or not.

CorrieDhu's Shetland cows are much finer that ours; more dairy-like in appearance - in any scuffles, our two definitely have the weight advantage :-). She has one red, one red and white and two black and white, but one of the black and white ones is for sale; she's also bought Blizzard's sister, so I'm looking forward to seeing her when she comes down.

Anyway, I'm trying not to text too often, to check on their wellbeing but the place seems empty without them.
