Henry, no more

Unfortunately, epecially for him, our cockerel, Henry, has been killed by a fox (we think). He was there at 10am when I left the house and, by the time Dan came home at noon, he was gone. All that was left was a pile of feathers. Dan followed the trail of feathers along the hedge and found the body under the brambles, headless.

It was a short life but, I think, a happy one - corn three times a day and unlimited sex. What more could a boy ask for!

So we'll have to think about a replacement, but not just yet.

sorry you lost your Henry, as you say though he did have a fine life with you,
I was just reading your compost post and my homebase compost was rubbish too, I used it last year with good results so maybe they are just inconsistent with quality,

Poor Henry!! We haven't had anymore problems with the fox (touch wood). Our 'Roger' is still going strong with another me just having hatched some more eggs and another 3 under a broody maran hen. This wasn't by choice really but she's really violent if you try and move her or take the eggs so Chris decided to leave her on them.
